1st Wedding Anniversary

Will and I celebrated ONE year of being married!  We wanted to make it special, and special it was...Will created a SURPRISE getaway for us. He rented a secluded cabin in the mountains equipped with a romantic fireplace, bear rug, and hot tub.

We also went skiing at Stevens Pass....or, well, we attempted to.  Funny story...I'll try to make it short, but basically on the way up on the chairlift on our first run of the day, I had this really weird sensation in my neck/throat - almost like it was seizing up on me.  It really was the weirdest thing. Kind of scared me. But I thought I was okay.  It sort of went away by the time we got to the top.

Then after we got off, we sort of goofed around a bit (as you'll see in our video below), and afterwards it happened again.  Something was weird and not right.

Well, a ski patrolman had happened to of been watching me, and he came over to ask me if I was all right.  I was already beyond embarrassed that he had noticed me acting weird.  I told him I was fine...but that my neck felt like my throat was closing up on me or something.  He asked me if I had any allergies, or had fallen, hurt myself, etc.  It was rather embarrassing to have to answer no to all of these questions, because DUH I had to of done something to be feeling this way! But nope!

He told me that I shouldn't ski, and he would take me back down to the lodge to be checked out by the nurse at the first aid station.  NOOoooooo.....All I kept saying was how unnecessary that was, but he kept insisting he would feel much better if someone looked at me.  Whatever.  I think the most embarrassing part of this was a) I hadn't even skiied yet that day, and b) I had to ride the chairlift down while everyone going up stared at me and wondered what was wrong.  It felt like I was going back down because I didn't have the ability to ski the run because of my ski-level not because of an injury. Sigh.

Well, as it turns out, someone asked me if I had been in a car accident. I said no, but then realized, oh wait, yes I had been in one. A small fender bender 2 weeks earlier where someone on the freeway had rear-ended me.  I did get a little jolt from the collision but since my car wasn't even damaged I didn't think anything of it.  Well, turns out,I have whiplash.

The other funny part about this little anniversary trip was, and beware this is TMI, but of course I had to of been on some antibiotics for something and it made me get a yeast infection.  Mmmhmmm.  So you can just imagine how fun that was.  They say not go hot tubbing if you have a yeast infection. Did I listen?  Nope.  BAD bad bad idea.

But aside from the funny odd awkward mishaps that happened, it was a very romantic and fun getaway with enough memories to last (and laugh at) for years to come.  1 year down, eternity to go!

Here is a video collage of our trip:

Dan & Sandy Come to Visit

Will's parents came to visit us for the weekend! It was their first time seeing our apartment.

And of course, we had to show them around Seattle...

And also the homes that Will helps to build (he's an estimator)...

They also stayed and went to church with us on Sunday...

It was a really fun visit!  I am so lucky to love my parents-in-law so much.  They are truly wonderful.
