Tagged?

Okay so Laura tagged us, or me, whatever, and then Elizabeth tagged Will. I know Will won't do this, and I can't believe I am either because I just don't think anyone will actually read this because I'm just not that interesting. lol. Sorry if you are bored. And I'm changing it from 5 things to 3 things each...

Guess what tonight is??

This blog is dedicated to Will and his brother Daniel, who are just a little CRAZY about skiing.

Tonight we're following our annual tradition of attending this year's Warren Miller ski movie.

In honor of this tradition, a moment of silence please.

(This is how I really feel about going to Warren Miller ski movies)

I'm joking of course. I enjoy sitting through 2 hours of punk music and watching people jumping off of cliffs on skis. lol. I remember my very first Warren Miller Ski movie - it was "Steeper and Deeper" from like 1992 or something....the ski pants were hot pink, the ski lifts were slow, and Warren still narrated.

Earlier this year, we were invited to join Daniel, Dalynn, and Tessha to go skiing and stay at a timeshare at Whistler. On one of the days we were skiing, Will and I were riding a ski lift up and we could see below us a guy in a yellow ski jacket who was getting ready to jump a rather dangerous and steep drop off. We were anxious to see him biff it and excitedly watched, as we said "Whoa!".

As we got closer to the guy, we realized, "Hey, that's Daniel!!" LOL

Now I understand why he wears a helmet when he skis.

Daniel and Dalynn - see you guys tonight in Olympia!

Question for all you moms out there...

I swear I really am trying to concentrate on other things besides baby stuff. But today as I was sitting at the piano, I realized "I have no idea of what sort of baby stuff we'll need!!" and I sort of freaked out.

Okay so I know the essentials - like a crib, stroller, carseat, etc. But for any of you moms out there, can you tell me what other things I'll need? Like what sort of things did you need afterwards that you didn't think you would? Even down to the detailed things - like weird stuff.

Lay it on me, I'm ready. I'm going to start a list.

Thanks. :)

1st Doctor Appointment

Well this morning was our first doctor appointment being pregnant. I wasn't really sure what to expect, and I was super nervous - but really excited at the same time. I've especially been anxious to see the picture up on an ultrasound screen to provide proof that there really is something down there inside my belly and I'm not just feeling sick all of the time for nothing. But I was nervous too - because you just never know. I mean, my greatest fear was they were going to do an ultrasound and my uterus would be completely empty.

So anyway, here is our baby's first photo:

It's a healthy 9 week +/- 1 to 3 day old fetus. I know, I know....I always used to look at these pictures and think "What in the world am I looking at? I don't get it." So I will explain.

The big dark bean shape is my uterus (aka baby's home for the next several months). The little substance in the lower left side is the baby. If you can make out the large oval-shaped mass on its left side, that is actually the head. The total size of the baby is about 2 and 1/2 cm long.

It was pretty cool - Will and I got to see its heartbeat super fast, and its arms and legs were even moving around.

Then afterwards, they gave us a bunch of pamphlets on pregnancy, some sample prenatal vitamins, a perscription to help me with my nausea/digestion issues, and then I had what felt like 10 quarts of blood drawn. Ok not 10 quarts, but like 8 of those little tubes. I thought I was gunna die. I don't do well with needles. Blah.

Oh yeah, and our official due date is June 8, 2008. And no, there was only just one baby in there, not two. ;)

And since I'm completely new this all of this, for anyone else who was just as curious as I was - I guess you just have to see the doctor once a month up until you're 30 weeks, and then it's once every 2 weeks and then the last month or so it's once a week. I also learned that you're not supposed to eat cold meats (dangitt!), soft cheeses (dangitt again!), large fish (mercury) (eh, that's okay with me).

As for me, I haven't thrown up for several weeks but I do get nauseated pretty easily. I am hungry all of the time - probably because I can only eat a little bit at a time (again, nausea) and so I'm hungry again like 30 min later. My belly is slightly larger than normal, as Will pointed out to me yesterday "I saw your little baby belly for the first time in your church dress! It was cute!". It's weird because I can't suck it in. I don't think any stranger would think I was pregnant though, just fat. (Sigh). I did go and buy a pair of pregnancy pants because the waist is elastic and it feels a lot better than the button on my jeans cutting into me. My digestive system is completely out of whack (don't even get me started on that subject), but I'm hoping this perscription I got today will help. I cried myself to sleep the other night because of how bad my stomach was hurting.

Let's see what else - oh yeah, I sleep like 10 - 12 hours a day. And naps are usually needed. Holy cow and I am NOT a nap taker! I think it's such a waste of time, but nope not anymore. I feel like I can barely keep my eyes open at around 4pm everyday.

As for Will - he's doing good. I'm really grateful for his help and patience with me. I know I'm constantly not feeling good and vocalizing it to him - lol - so again, I'm grateful for his patience. He's doing better at not wearing smelly colognes, and taking care of his stinky tupperwares that had his lunch in it. He's been having fun playing church basketball lately, and going for runs on his lunchbreak.

Well - that's the update for me (us)!

This Sunday, November 4th, will be the 4 year anniversary of Will and I's very first date. We think it's pretty cool that almost 4 years later, on Monday the 5th, we will be going to see the first ultrasound pictures of our baby.

So here's to a little reminiscing...
Our very first picture together - Nov. 4, 2003 - on our way up to Mt. Erie, near the San Juan Islands, WA

Me trying to look cute for my 1st date with Will - on top of Mt. Erie after a picnic lunch. Brrrr.

Will looking all cute and warm and snuggly - wow, I forgot he used to wear necklaces. lol SOOOO glad I broke him of that habit! lol (sorry Will)

My favorite part of our first date, was when Will and I were on the ferry riding from Whidbey Island to Port Townsend. We were out on the deck, and it was really windy and cold and we could hardly hear each other. Will yells over to me, "I'm going to go break wind!"

I was shocked and yet pleasantly surprised that he felt so comfortable in front of me to tell me he was stepping away to fart. After he didn't come back for a while, I finally went and asked him "Are you done yet??" and he said "Done what?" and I said, "Ummmm...you said you had to, you know, break some wind?" He busts out laughing and says "NNNNOOOOO!!! I said I wanted to go BRAVE the wind, not break wind!" I then busted out laughing too.

About a month later, Will came up from Portland to visit me on his way to Whistler. This is us at my parents house playing Christmas piano duets together.

This was from our 2nd date together. Glad we felt so comfortable around each other! LOL

This was a memorable date for me - skiing at Stevens Pass on New Years Day. It was the date where I realized that I was falling for Will - he made me so happy all of the time and I loved who I was when I was with him. Awwwwwwe. (by the way that is me sticking my tongue out at Will and catching some snowflakes on it as well)

And then here we are October 16th, 2004, the night that Will proposed.

And the rest, as they say, is history (in the making!). 4 years down, Eternity to go.... I love this man!

P.S. Will and I have a website, that started out as a wedding announcement site, then turned into our "family" website, but we changed servers last year and so most of our site needs to be re-uploaded. But our proposal story is still on there, if anyone wants to see it. Will is a VERY creative guy!!! Here's the link: http://www.willandjenni.net/wedding/proposal.htm
