Or maybe I just got a glimpse into understanding it - Will's passion/obsession for running outrageously long foot races.
Last night Will and I went to go see the independent film "The Spirit of the Marathon". This was a 2 and 1/2 hour documentary on 6 unique individuals training for the Chicago Marathon.
It was actually really good! Even if I did relate more to the people in the crowd than those who were the stars of the movie. Haha. I particularly liked the one sign that a bystander was holding during the marathon that said "You're All Crazy!!". That would totally be like me to hold a sign like that.
I have just never really understood it.
Why does a person torture themselves by putting on a pair of running shoes...
And then go run 26.2 miles...
Sometimes even 32 miles....
Or then sometimes even 197 mile relay races?
Is it to impress the ladies?
Or because its one of the only times you will actually get through all of the songs on your iPod?Or is it the commadary with others who smell just as sweet as you?
Or maybe it's that you get to try out new running shoes.
Or for the finishing medals?Nahhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm convinced its for one reason and one reason only!
The Tshirts.
Will, I promise to run a 5K with you by the end of this year. I really want a tshirt too.

I so totally understand the need. I just wish I had taken care of my body as well as Will has. Maybe then I could run with him. I've actually won a few of my own races. It's just too bad they've all be in the "old ladies" bracket. I love the feel of the wind in my hair and space passing me by. I think it's all apart of the "flying" we used to do and hopefully with do again. I'm so proud of Will for running like he does. I think it's awesome!!! Jenni, sometimes you can find someone who'll let you buy a T-shirt! That's fun, too :-)
Jenni I would have to agree with you. James and I once ran a 5k just for the t-shirt. he he he. Well, at least that was why i ran, James might say something different. We love you two!
Gotta love a good Tshirt, especially one that is earned. Those are always the ones that I keep forever and get rid of when they are not recognizable as a shirt.
Do they give you bumper stickers too? If so I think I found myself a new hobby.
I must say honestly it is a far far off dream of mine to complete some sort of marathon in my life. The idea of having a goal and working towards it sounds appealing too. So, I can kind of see why..kind of. Too bad I feel like I want to puke everytime I run.
It's a hard obsession to re-understand... pushing two babies in a double jogger, throwing cheerios at one kid and sticking a binky in another, and remembering to run at the same time. Oh, what it would be like to only have to worry about running and listening to a IPOD again! Gotta get those t-shirts! Excited for parenthood yet..hehe! GO WILL!
Hey..I've been running for two years...do I get a shirt? Or is it just the whole HOT WIFE thing? Either way Carry On.
You make me laugh Jenni! You're so funny. Tshirts, it's the one thing you can wear to let people know you did it. You don't wear medals around town or to play racquetball in, or go to the gym in. I guess you can sport the shoe, but who really knows what one does with their shoes! Commradary is huge, but you're right, it's the tshirt! hahahaha, I love this post! You guys rock!
Love, V
That is totally funny with the iPod thing. That would be awesome to make it all the way through your songs. I gotta say, the shorts are what scare me!!! Do they have to be so short or so tight? I would love to do it someday. I better hurry up because the clock is ticking and your right They Are Crazy.
I am in need of a few more shirts maybe I should take up the while running thing
wow, such stamina! It makes me tired just reading it!
