Taylor's Baby Blessing

We loved having family around for Taylor's special day. Thank you to those that came and supported him.

Taylor received a beautiful blessing given by his Dad, and he slept through the whole thing until the end when he got the hiccups. It was cute. Our sweet baby is so good natured and was quiet all during church, getting passed around from family member to family member.

I played a duet with a violinist for Sacrament Meeting and it went well. After church, we came back to our home and had a nice lunch that included Pesto Enchiladas, chicken salad, rolls, pita chips and spinach dip, and orange torte for dessert.

We are pretty exhausted from our busy day. I'm always amazed, it doesn't seem to matter how early we wake up for church, we can never seem to be on time and are rushing around. I suppose it's because with two little kids you never know what will come up right when you are trying to get out the door. Luckily we made it to church right at 8:59 a.m. I never got a chance to feed Taylor before his blessing, but luckily he was a good sport and slept through it regardless.

Preston hasn't been liking nursery lately. Maybe someone can tell me if this is a normal thing they go through when there is a new sibling in the house? For the past 3 Sundays, when we take him to nursery he throws himself onto the ground and starts crying. It takes a LOT to get him to go and he cries and cries and cries. A few of the other moms have told me that it's normal because of the new baby, but I guess I just don't understand why. Why would Preston not want to go to nursery just because he has a new baby brother? I sat in a chair in the hallway outside the nursery room with Preston on my lap yesterday and asked him if he wanted to come to class with Mama and Taylor and he said "No". So I don't know if Taylor has anything to do with it.

Hopefully he'll get over it soon, because normally he LOVES nursery!

Just have to say...

....that we haven't received any Asian spam comments in the last several weeks and it's been grand. Thank you Blogger for figuring out how to fix that.

Date Night!

This was me last Saturday night.

I was...

It was our first night alone since Taylor was born.

Okay, okay. I should clarify.

Technically it wasn't a night alone. We brought Taylor with us, and we went to our stake's adult dance so we were surrounded by a lot of people...

But the point is, is that we had a DATE NIGHT. And we got to dance with each other - which we love doing and hardly ever get the chance to do.

It was called "The Chocolate Ball" because they had a ginormous chocolate fountain with an array of different treats to dip in the chocolate.

Taylor was...

(by the way, Karen is wearing a special dress because she danced in the "Dancing with the Stars" competition that night doing the Waltz)

Afterwards...

Preston was quite excited to have had a babysitter that night. They watched The Incredibles and Kristen let him play with her cell phone - which was the highlight of his evening.

I should clarify that Preston wasn't dressed up like that for the babysitter. That photo was actually taken the next morning after church.

And just for kicks...

As I was going through photos, I stumbled across these gems of Preston from when he was a year old. They made me giggle so I had to post him. Don't you just want to pinch his cheeks?

Walking in the Rain post below. Scroll down.

Walking in the Rain

The first day I decide to try out our double jogging stroller, and after an hour and a half of getting everyone ready and out the door (including Will the slow poke), it decided to rain on us. Like a lot.

But that's okay. We live in Seattle and we should all be acclimated to this type of weather.

Except that we've been enjoying some really nice weather lately and so acclimated back to the rain we are not. Yet.

Preston enjoyed wearing his yellow rain boots and yellow rain jacket though.

Taylor had his 1 month wellness visit this morning. He now weighs 11 pounds, 7 oz. I looked up Preston's stats in his baby book and he was exactly the same at the same age.

We are excited to have BOTH sets of Bramma & Grampa's in town this weekend for Taylor's baby blessing.

Preston-isms

This is me:

And this is Project: Preston-isms.

This is Preston:

He is:

If you take a walk around our house, you will sometimes find his belongings in the funniest, oddest place.

These sorts of findings we would like to call "Preston-isms" ~ Little insights into his personality and character. These findings make me smile because I always have to wonder what he was thinking when he was playing in these spots.

I journeyed around our home with our camera in hand randomly for a week, and documented Preston-isms, exactly as I found them...

Piano keys serve as great garages for matchbox cars.

And the keys act as a really cool bumpy road.

Why not help Mom decorate the house by adding your personal touch to the furniture?
Every piece of furniture should have car stickers on them. According to Preston.

And what better spot to park your fire truck than in a perfectly sized spot next to Mom's pillow? Backed in of course.

Um, I still haven't figured this one out yet...

Toys don't belong in the bedroom. They go on the coffee table. And all at once.

One must always organize one's Thomas the Train Legos vertically, and by color of course.

And the cars must all be parked side by side, and in order on the kitchen counter.

And Mom must need some fun items on her desk, so let's add some legos and toys.

And last photo for this epidose, my personal favorite...

Put Fire Truck hat on Dad while he is sleeping, because he deserves it. And it looks good there.

Like I said, all boy.

P.S.

Funny Bathroom Talk:

Preston just woke up from his nap, with another poopy diaper.

Mommy: Preston, you need to come take a bath because you had two poopy diapers today and your bum is yucky.

Preston looks at mom, pauses to think for a minute, and then says very seriously: I dida BIG poop.

Preston is sitting in his high chair eating macaroni and cheese, and Dad walks in the door with Kristen, Preston's babysitter. (We had date night planned). Mommy tells Dad that Preston smells like he has a poopy diaper and needs to be changed before we leave on our date.

Dad takes Preston into his room to change his diaper, and upon taking it off says: Hey, you're not poopy! That was a trick.

Preston looks at Dad and says, very matter-of-factly: I toot in the chair.

Then he giggles.

I've been blogging a lot this weekend, so scroll down for a couple more posts.

Bridesmaid.

You know the saying "Once a bridesmaid, never a bride"?

Well, I'm proclaiming this instead: "Once a bride, you should never be a bridesmaid".
Or no, actually to be more accurate, it should be: "If you've just had a baby, you should not be a bridesmaid".

Yes, I apologize to my own bridesmaids whom two of which were married at the time of my wedding, one of them was even pregnant. I'm so sorry. I had no idea what I was doing to you. At least your your outfits were ohhh so much better than what I had to wear.

This is me.

This is me in my lovely purple bridesmaid dress helping my very good friend Missi with the train on her wedding dress.

I'm really going to try hard to not make this post all about the dress. But let's face it. It seemed to be a focal point for me all day. It made me a bit miserable.

Don't get me wrong.

I was soooo excited for my friend. She is seriously one of my closest and long time friends, and not to mention one of the last of my single friends to get married. She waited a very very very long time for her slow moving boyfriend to finally propose. I think they started dating early in 2006, so you can see....it's been a while and she was pretty stoked to be getting married.

But the dress...ugh.

Anyway...

My faithful posse that followed me around all day.

They were such troopers.

But seriously, the dress...

It looked super cute in the photo in the catalog where Missi chose it from. In fact, it looked really cute. On the size 2 model.

But...

Let's face it. Once on the figure, it was just not very flattering.

It made my chest look three times as big as it was, and we all know I don't need any help in that department right now.

The hem length came right to my knees, and I have very fat knees right now.

The sleeves made even the skinniest bridesmaid hate her arms.

Oh, I could go on and on.

The weather was about 73 degrees and oh, 100% humidity. Gross.

We all had sweat in places we had never sweat before.

This little guy was a champ and dubbed the most well-behaved baby at the wedding.

This little guy had fun running around the temple grounds, the luncheon, and at the reception. And he got majorly doped up on sugar by the end of the night.

It was the only way we could keep him entertained. It was past his bedtime.

There was one good thing about my outfit though...

I had some awesome jewelery. Loved it.

After a long day of bridesmaid duties, I finally got home at 11pm.
My wonderful friend had a lovely wedding and reception. She is now happily married and on her way to Orlando to Disneyworld with her new husband.

I went through 2 pairs of ill-fitting heels. Got several blisters and sore ankles.

But I got to reconnect with a lot of old friends from my singles ward that I was in 6 years ago.

But the dress....

I think it's safe to say you won't ever see me in it. Ever again.

P.S. Happy 1 month to Taylor. See next post below.
P.P.S. Will just read this post and said "Um, just so you know, I think it's Forever21, not For Love 21." LOL First of all the fact that he knew about Forever21 impressed me. But actually, For Love 21 is Forever21's accessory shop. It's a seperate store. ;)
