No More Bored Baby

Okay, so before we ever had Preston, Will and I had a few ideas about things we did and didn't want to do as parents.

For one thing, we were NEVER going to have any of those hideous huge looking toys that were such eyesores that you couldn't even have them in your home. LOL

But as Preston has been growing and developing, we've finally come around and seen the light. There is actually purpose in having these eyesores.

Yes, to adults they look like huge brightly colored hideous things that don't match any of the decor in the rest of your home. But to a baby, they are a wonderland of things to do to develop their motor skills (grabbing toys with their fingers and holding on), their eyes (all the bright colors and shapes) and it also teaches them how to use their leg muscles (Preston can stretch his legs out and move himself around by "walking" underneath).

Not to mention, it affords Mommy and Daddy a little extra time during the day to ourselves.

Will just brought one home last night. Now that we agree that Preston does need some of these types of "educational" toys, we have agreed that we won't buy such big bulky eyesore toys at full price. Will picked this one up at a baby consignment sale downtown.

So now for the moment we've all been waiting for - Introducing....Preston and his huge -bright-bulky-but-educational-toy. He lasted about 40 minutes in it last night! We were able to eat dinner AND do the dishes. :)

You'll have to forgive my high-pitched baby voice. ha ha.

I don't see the clip up yet, but I can't wait! Matt and I felt the same way about these things, but it didn't take long for us to SEE THE LIGHT . . . the stimulation is so wonderful for these busy eager little learners! Good for you! Be prepared to EAT a lot of your words . . . all those "we'll never be the kind of parents who . . . " You'll do a lot of things you never imagined out of the AMAZING LOVE that you have for these sweet little joys in our lives!

Oh lovely. Now I know exactly what you were thinking every time you visited our house. ;)

Haha no, Dalynn, I have NEVER thought that. And just to be clear I was really directing the jokes about how ugly these things are at the manufacturers. I do have friends who their entire houses look like it is covered in these things. But really, I have thought for years and years before ever even getting married that these things were hideous. LOL And now we have one. YAHOO!!! no seriousy it is good for Preston. Although today he was mad when I put him in it. Bored of it already? Haha.

I'm so surprised to see how fast Preston is growing. James and I figured our baby would be to small to need anything like that while we are in Hawaii but now i'm questioning what kinds of toys we sould have while we live in Hawaii. If she comes on time she'll be a little over three months by the time she move? Do you have any ideas of toys we should have before we move?

That is cute. Preston looks so different now. I love the high pitched voice too. I also love it when you can put them in a standing up thing and they love it. He is so cute.

Luke thinks Preston lookslike his Daddy. He's a handsome little guy.
Man, he's growing so fast. I can't believe Preston is already using standing toys.
Isn't it funny all the things you swore you would never do pre kids that you end up doing after all. I have a whole list of them.

Tammy and I were never going to give Cordelia a binky... then we had a really sleepless night where we couldn't get her to calm down. We caved, decided to give her one...

She refused it. In all her infancy she only ever took her binky one time, and that was on a flight from SLC to DC for about 10 minutes.

I think Prestond looks just like his mommy, except his eyes. Those are Wills. IMO.
