Well, things that we didn't do that we were going to do were - camping, camping, and camping. Haha.
BUT we did take some mighty fun (and interesting) day trips. Let our adventures unfold...
First, Saturday, we were driving up to the Cascade Mountains and we pass this on our right:
"What is that?" I say as we are both staring...
"What in the world?" Says Will...
Let's see if you can guess. All the signs around the property said "Private Event" so we couldn't go in, but we found a sneaky place to park and we zoomed in and took got some shots with our paparazzi camera!
A renaissance festival out in the middle of no where? Perhaps?
Nope...try again...
Okay okay we'll give you a hint: SCA
Thats right folks. The Society for Creative Anachronism.
From the SCA website, it says: "The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Our "royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor members for their contributions to the group."
That's right. We spied on a private group of SCA members who dress up in renaissance costumes and really live their day to day lives as if they were from the 17th century. Wow. I know we saw Jon Heder as one of these people in "Mama's Boy", but didn't realize their organization was so huge...and so real.
So anyway, on with our adventure.
After we got tired of spying on the weird people, we drove up the Snoqualmie River and found a place to hike. It was Preston's first hike! Will was pretty stoked.
Is that not the cutest picture ever?
A little family picture on the bridge over the river.
Annnnnnnd he's asleep. Just couldn't stay awake for the hike. Sorry Will, maybe in another year or two. :)
Monday we travelled to the great wide blue called the Pacific Ocean. By way of West Seattle.
We enjoyed a leisurely stroll along Alki Beach.
And yes I'm posting pictures that I hate of myself -but hey that is what my weightloss competition is for. Just wait, in four months you will see a much thinner version of me. :) No more post pardum pudge.
And that concludes our lovely weekend together as a happy little family in the northwest.
WAIT!!!
I forgot one more thing:
Our "Little Monster" trying on a Halloween costume! I don't think he was really sure what to think of it.

Poor little guy! What kids have to go through for their parents!
Hiking is not his thing yet. Train him and it will be some day. Then you will not get him to sleep.
